Malifaux rescheduling

Malifaux has been rescheduled, due to a fubar on my part. It will now be held on November 15th at Magic Stronghold Games. Please accept my apologies for the error. If you find yourself available on this date instead of the 22nd, now is the ideal time to sign up! You can do so HERE, or just email me at foodhammer@shaw.ca to let me know you're definitely coming and pay on the day.

MOAR SPONSORS!

The hits just keep on comin'!

We've been really fortunate this year with the amount of generosity that the gaming industry has shown us. I'm just amazed!  Please show your appreciation for our sponsors by visiting their sites, liking their Facebook pages, following their Twitter feeds and all manner of things. Just don't camp outside their houses, that's weird.

Mike at Hammertime Hobbies has donated some Battlefoam trays for X-Wing. These will be raffled off at the X-Wing event.  He's got a great store in North Vancouver, very close to the Eagles club where CHOP! resides.

Ninja Division is a new games publisher joining the market place to bring you high quality games and products featuring the work of creative studios Soda Pop Miniatures, Cipher Studios, and other independent designers. In addition to publishing and supporting our own line of products, Ninja Division serves as a creative services company to other publishers to leverage our skills to help enrich the hobby market with high quality products.

The most awesome Ross Thompson, head Ninja at Ninja division has bodaciously agreed to donate some good stuff to our event. They produce high quality games. I own every available Super Dungeon Explore fig and I'm in on the Forgotten King Kickstarter. Soon I'll be swimming in Sparkleburst like Scrooge McDuck in his vault! If you haven't played SDE, whhyyyy? It's tons of fun!

FFG is known for its quality of game components (often enhanced with highly detailed plastic miniatures and beautiful artwork), innovative gameplay, professional dedication to customer service, and a cutting-edge online presence providing information and support for its many products.

FFG's best-known titles include games based on licenses such as Battlestar Galactica, World of Warcraft, and The Lord of the Rings, proprietary titles such as Arkham Horror and Descent: Journeys in the Dark, as well as re-releases of classic titles such as Cosmic Encounter, Fury of Dracula, and DungeonQuest.

In 2008, FFG formed an exclusive partnership with Games Workshop to represent its acclaimed IPs in the hobby games market, publishing new versions of classic titles such as Talisman and Horus Heresy as well as brand new games such as Warhammer: Invasion and Chaos In the Old World.

X-Wing is one of their most popular miniature lines. We should know - many of us own several of the ships and at least one of the starter sets.  They've generously agreed to donate some prize support to this year's event.  What exactly I'm not sure yet but I'm excited to find out!

40K Waiting list, Fantasy painting

The 40K tournament is full! I can't believe it filled up so quickly! Thanks to everyone who registered.

There IS a waiting list, so let me know by email to foodhammer@shaw.ca or via a PM on the Facebook page and I'll put you on the list in case someone has to drop out.

Those who have paid are reminded that the fee is non-refundable

We tweaked the rules for the Fantasy event - painting is not REQUIRED, but we do ask that you get as much of it done as you can as it's always nicer to play with and against painted armies.

DICE!

We're very lucky that Chessex have stepped up again this year to offer us a really great break on the cost of the dice. As I said, Jason Dyer is handling this part of Foodhammer organisation and he does a great job each year that he does it. Like everyone involved with the event, I'm immensely grateful to him, as I am to every business that throws their hat into the ring, in whatever capacity. So do you want to see this year's dice?

All you guys with multiple librarians will love these dice for your psychic phase. They're extra magical this year. We are shipping Les Sohier to the Solomon Isles just to make sure that he doesn't cause them to roll 1 five times out of six.

Jason has of course ordered the fancy auction dice for the GW events, and I won't see those till they're delivered so I can't tell you about them.  As usual, the blue dice will be $10 for ten.

40K Missions

After some discussion, Nick and I have decided we're not doing fancy dancy missions this year for 40K. Game one and two will be rolled from the regular missions and game three will be a Maelstrom of War mission. Make sure you have your cards!

A few updates

Hi peoples,

So all systems have their base rules outlined.  Click on each tab above to find out more.

We haven't decided on the scenarios for 40K yet but hang in there!  We MAY have a Maelstrom mission in there, so make sure you have those cards. It's hard to score Victory Points without them.

We want you to play with your toys, 40K guys! Of course we're okay with 40K Approved Forgeworld units. If you're concerned about how they will work in seventh edition then by all means drop us an email with your question and reference the model and which rulebook you're looking at.  We'll see what we can do to answer your questions and help you get it on the table of choose an alternative.

Sponsors are coming through quickly.  We have received recognition from some great companies so far this year.

KR Multicase have once again generously offered prize support.  I'm very much looking forward to wrapping my All Quiet On The Martian Front miniatures in some of their product, since the infantry are all metal.

As always, Justin McCoy of Secret Weapon Miniatures is donating some gift certificates to his webstore.  They will be awarded as prizes for each tournament (possibly a best repaint for X-Wing!)

Mantic Games are sending us some prize support.  I don't know what it is yet but I'm certainly grateful to them for their generosity.

I'm also grateful to Reece Robbins of Frontline Gaming for donating a FaT Mat mat in support of our event.  That will be raffled off, of course although I'm unsure as to which event it will appear at yet.

Wyrd Miniatures are sending support for the Malifaux event, and Privateer Press are sending support for the Warmachine event. This is awesome! I'm excited! I'm usually full of dread but I'm EXCITED!

Jason Dyer is handling the order with Chessex again this year.  I won't know what colours he's chosen until I see the sample, and I won't see the auction dice colours until they arrive.

So guys, what are you waiting for? Click the button and sign up!

See you there! :-)

Ironheart Artisans

Ironheart Artisans are the creators of some really amazing terrain kits and gaming accessories.  I was privileged to be introduced to Alex, the proprietor, at Adepticon. They have some great laser cut MDF terrain pieces too.  Great detail, nice clean lines and in varied themes. Great for Malifaux, 40K, Relic Knights and all manner of 28mm scale gaming.

About Ironheart:

"Our priorities at Ironheart Artisans are quality, customer satisfaction, and innovation. After more than two decades of being involved in the gaming community, we have refined what we feel makes a great product in the industry. Creating a new useful product that is made to the highest standard is only the first part. Supporting that product, and listening to the customer’s feedback is what makes a great product. As gamers, we know what will work to streamline game play and make our hobby time more enjoyable. In the end our goal is to do just that— give you products that enrich your games, and make the way you choose to spend your free time that much more satisfying."

Please visit their site by clicking on the banner above or the button to the left.

Thanks for your donation, Alex!

Foodhammer 2014

Here we go again.  This is it.  I'm making a commitment. Foodhammer 2014 is go!

It's taken me a while to wrap my head around this one, since Real Life is really quite busy for me these days. After I thought about how much of a good time everyone seemed to have last year, and about how much we've raised so far - honestly, how can I not do it again? What would be do with our November?!

We're still at GameStars for the most part, since the recipient of all this generosity is the Langley Food Bank. Malifaux this year is being held at Magic Stronghold this year, though.

Here is the calendar of events

Saturday November 8th - X Wing at GameStars
Saturday November 15th - WarmaHordes at GameStars
Saturday November 22nd - Malifaux at Magic Stronghold
Saturday November 29th - Warhammer 40K at GameStars
Sunday November 30th - Warhammer Fantasy at GameStars

Details for the various events will pop up on the Facebook page and on the website as they are firmed up. Please keep your eyes peeled for details!

Justin Doyle and I are toying with a Soda Pop Social for some time in late October, where we're hoping people can come by and take part in Super Dungeon Explore: PvP Arena and some Relic Knights.  It will be semi-casual with food donations gladly accepted.  We hope to hold a raffle or a 50/50.

I'm excited.  Nervous as always but excited.  We're at about $11,000 for a running total. Let's see how much higher we can take it.

I will probably say it ad nauseum, but thank you, everyone, for your support of this event. We're doing great things together!
