Foodhammer Bolt Action Event

This is an event and not a tournament. There is no prize for doing well. Not even a piece of paper that says “well done!” Come out and enjoy gaming over some fun scenarios played on some cool tables.

Location: Fraternal Order of Eagles, 170 3rd St W, North Vancouver, BC V7M 1E8

Cost: $25 

Food situation TBA. There is a full bar in the Eagles, which should open from noon until close. 

Doors open at 9:30:

Game 1: 9:45am - 12:15pm
Lunch: 12:15pm - 1:00pm
Game 2: 1:00pm – 3:30 pm
Game 3: 3:45pm – 6:15pm

The room is booked for gaming until 10:00 pm for those who want to play a fourth game after dinner (you maniacs!).


Bring a 1000 pt list legal for Bolt Action Second Edition plus sideboard (300 pts, no restrictions). This can use any legal selector (including armoured platoons), but must use a single platoon selector and must use the same selector throughout the day. As usual, vehicles will not be scoring unless the mission specifies (and some tables might specifically be designed to give vehicles a hard time).  

I will not verify your lists, but don’t be an ass. 

How it works

Throughout the day, you will be matched out against different players (not too structured – I will basically trying to get everyone playing on a good variety of opponents and on a good variety of tables). Our plan is for there to be three games throughout the day, subject to scheduling issues. 

I will have awesome themed tables setup to match specific missions. The plan so far is for Robert Metzner (Table Top Scenery) to provide terrain (which he will have for sale – it’s great stuff with very fair prices, so buy some!). Each table will have a mission to match the terrain (eg, a bocage table with a bocage mission). 

You will be assigned to a table, and you’ll know what your opponent is playing (eg, you will know that Jamie is playing Soviets, but not what is in his army list), and what the mission is generally (eg, you will know you are playing a scenario to capture an airfield, but not specific mechanics of the mission). Where appropriate, you will determine attacker/defender. Some missions will have mission specific points available at this point (such as skis, or desert fighter upgrades  for +X points). 

Players will have a few minutes to finalize their 1000 pt lists with items from the sideboard. Once this is complete, players will review the actual mission. 


For a small additional charitable donation, players will unlock a twist to the mission. Some of these will be a tactical change (eg, new intel makes for a more complex mission), and some of these will be just plain zany. You won’t know until you donate to open the twist. In certain missions, the FUBAR twist may be different for each player.
